What is Alpha?
Alpha is a series of group conversations that explore questions of life, faith, and spirituality from a Christian perspective. It’s a place to connect with people, where you can say anything you like or nothing at all. This is an open, safe, and friendly space where all are free to ask any questions they want without judgment or pressure.
Who is Alpha for?
For anyone who’s curious. If you are an atheist, agnostic, skeptic, suspicious of religion, burned-out on religion, even if you don’t think you care about God, Alpha is for you. You can leave the group at anytime - no pressure, no obligation.
How does Alpha work?
Arrive/Mingle: 6:30-6:45
Welcome and meet new people!
Dinner: 6:45-7:20
Enjoy a free dinner and continue getting to know others. We’ll have a different meal each week, and of course, dessert!
Watch a short video: 7:20-7:50
Each Alpha evening features a ~25 minute film designed to foster questions for thought and eventual conversation. Each film explores questions like “Is There More to Life than This?”, “Who is Jesus?”, and “How Can I Resist Evil?”
discussion: 7:50-8:30
This is our favorite part of the evening. Our host will guide us in group conversation where you can ask your own question, respond to one posed in the film, or respond to another person’s question. We want to hear what everyone has to say, but there is never any pressure to speak. This is a wonderful time to get to know one another more, and to hear opinions different than our own.
